Julie Ayers
Julie Ayers has been a Certified Massage Therapist since 1995, completing her initial studies in massage therapy at the Colorado School of Healing Arts in Lakewood, Colorado. She has also trained in Sports Massage, The Anchor Point System of acupressure, BodyTalk™, Biovalent Manual Therapy (now called Lowen Systems: Dynamic Manual Interface™), Integrative Manual Therapy, and Manual Lymph Drainage Therapy.  Prior to relocating to Montezuma County in 2012, Julie maintained offices in Evergreen and Golden, Colorado. Along with a private practice, she has also provided Massage Therapy in chiropractic offices, athletic clubs, day spas, and on bicycle tours in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.

With nearly two decades of experience, Julie has a variety of techniques to draw from when addressing a client’s particular issues. She finds that her clients notice the best results with Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT), and Lymphatic Drainage Therapy.

  • IMT offers very effective solutions to helping someone improve their health and well-being. It is based on the premise that the body naturally has the potential to heal, if given the right circumstances. With gentle, hands-on techniques, IMT assists the body in creating those circumstances. All levels of well-being – body, mind, and spirit – can be addressed with IMT.
  • Lymphatic Drainage Therapies support the body’s immune function, detoxification, and overall well-being. Julie employs two different techniques: Lymph Drainage Therapy gently stretches the skin, and IMT positions the tissues surrounding a lymph node to relax. Both modalities improve lymph system function, promote relaxation and detoxification.

Kris Abrams
Hi, and welcome to my practice! I practice psychotherapy and shamanic healing in Cortez, Mancos, and Durango, Colorado, and I also work with clients from around the world by phone.

Psychotherapy and shamanic healing are both wonderful ways to help people live lives of authenticity, meaning and joy in a modern world that can make this challenging. Because each one of us is a complex collection of thoughts, emotions, experiences, behaviors, relationships, a body, and a soulful/spiritual self, I work holistically with each individual and incorporate a range of therapeutic techniques. These include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy;
  • EMDR;
  • Mindfulness;
  • Gestalt;
  • Nature-based psychotherapy/Ecopsychology/Ecotherapy,
  • And, for those who desire it, shamanic journeying.

My formal education includes a M.A. from Oxford University, where I was a Rhodes Scholar, and a M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Prescott College. I am trained as an EMDR therapist. I have also studied privately with my shamanic teacher for ten years.

To learn more about my practice, see To contact me directly, send an email to, or call (970) 403-5018. I look forward to meeting you!
